Digital Archive from an Archaeological Evaluation at Moat Meadow, Finningham Road, Old Newton, Suffolk, November 2021

This collection consists of site images and GIS data from an archaeological evaluation at Moat Meadow, Old Newton, Suffolk. Works were conducted by Cotswold Archaeology in November 2021. A small number of features (three pits, two post holes and a gully) were recorded across the site, with pottery indicating a prehistoric (Bronze Age) date for the pits and a small amount of Roman pottery within the ditch. Environmental evidence suggested the pit filled likely originated as hearth debris. A small amount of calcined bone was identified in one of the pits, with identified species including cattle and sheep/goat, further refining the fill material as likely domestic hearth waste.
