Link to the Wing Database in Airtable.

This database has wing images for 167 modern and fossil hymenopteran specimens. They are classified depending on the information included in the following fields:<br> • Clade. A single select field showing the phylogenetic group of the specimen according to the reference phylogeny cited on the main manuscript’s "Material and Methods" section.<br> • Fossil. A boolean field showing whether the image comes from a fossil or a modern animal.<br> • Period. A single select field showing the geological period from which the fossil wings come.<br> • Age/Stage. Some specimens include lower tiers of geological classification. It is also a single select field.<br> • Family/Subfamily. A single select field that shows lower tiers of phylogenetic classifications for some specimens.<br> • Genus. A text field showing the specimens generic name.<br> • Species. A text field showing the specific name.<br> • Quality. A multi select field vaguely describing the state of the image or wing. The options include "Complete", if the<br> specimen has a fore wing and a hind wing; "Only Forewing" and "Only Hindwing", if they only have one or the other;<br> "Partial Forewing" and "Partial Hindwing", for those lacking a segment in one wing and finally "Deformed wing", for<br> wings with slight deviations from the expected shape. The role of this field was more prominent during the development of the database to express how adequate the sample was for the future morphometric and morphofunctional analyses.<br> • Source. A text field that provides the links to the actual source of the wings when they were extracted from online<br> sources. For wings that came from articles, the author and date are reflected.<br> • Reference in Supporting Information (PNAS). A multi select field referencing the online databases and articles<br> listed in this document.
