Retrieval of the archives of the City of Antibes

Under Articles L. 212-6 and L. 212-6-1 of the Heritage Code, local authorities in particular are the owners and responsible for their archives. In the case of municipalities, this responsibility lies with the mayor, under the control of the municipal council. At each change of mayor and/or municipality, the drafting of a record of the archives annexed to the report of discharge and taking charge of the archives of the municipality is mandatory, under Article 4 of the interministerial decree of 31 December 1926. The minutes and record serve to formalize the transfer of responsibility from the outgoing mayor to the new mayor. They make it possible to certify in a contradictory manner the existence of archives at a given time. the recording is also a useful instrument for the director of the departmental archives service in the context of the follow-up he/she exercises as part of the scientific and technical control over the archives of the municipalities. We finally hope it can be reused!
