Climate change factors (CCF) for intensity–duration–frequency curves in the Community of Madrid (Spain) derived from CMIP6 downscaling

Desciption This dataset provides multi-model ensemble median climate change factors (CCF) for intensity–duration–frequency (IDF) curves at three AEMET pluviometric stations in the Community of Madrid, Spain: Torrejón (ID 3175), Madrid-Retiro (ID 3195) and Getafe (ID 3200). CCFs are defined as the ratio of future to historical Gumbel quantiles at a given return period, derived from a ten-member CMIP6 global climate model ensemble (ACCESS-CM2, BCC-CSM2-MR, CanESM5, CESM2-WACCM, CNRM-ESM2-1, EC-Earth3, MPI-ESM1-2-HR, MRI-ESM2-0, NorESM2-MM, UKESM1-0-LL) under four Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSP1-2.6, SSP2-4.5, SSP3-7.0, SSP5-8.5), statistically downscaled using the FIClima analogue-based method and bias-corrected via parametric quantile mapping. Values represent the multi-model, multi-scenario median (P50) across 40 model–scenario combinations. Three CSV files are provided, one per future time horizon relative to the 1985–2014 historical baseline: • Average_2016-2040.csv — near-term horizon • Average_2041-2070.csv — mid-century horizon • Average_2071-2100.csv — end-of-century horizon Each file contains three consecutive data blocks (separated by a repeated header row), corresponding to stations Torrejón (3175), Madrid-Retiro (3195) and Getafe (3200), respectively. Within each block: • Rows: return period T (years) = 2, 5, 10, 15, 25, 50, 100, 200, 500 • Columns: storm duration d (minutes) = 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120, 180, 360, 720, 1440 • Values: dimensionless CCF (ratio future/historical design intensity) CCFs below 1.0 indicate no statistically significant increase (frequent events at short durations); CCFs above 1.0 indicate intensification. To obtain future design intensities, multiply existing IDF values by the corresponding CCF: I_future(d,T) = CCF(d,T) × I_historical(d,T). These data support the revision of urban stormwater design standards in the Madrid metropolitan area and are directly applicable to existing IDF equations without requiring full hydrological modelling.
