Neutron scattering is one of the few experimental techniques that can directly determine the mechanism of hydrogen (H2) and deuterium (D2) adsorption in microporous solids. Therefore, it is an ideal technique to study porous materials used for H2/D2 separations in-situ under high-pressure environments1. In collaboration with Professor Andy Coopers group at the University of Liverpool we have been investigating a novel porous organic cage (POC), 6MT-RCC3 (Figure 1), which shows remarkable potential for H2 and D2 separations. In light of these findings, and to understand the different dynamics and diffusion rates of H2 and D2 in 6MT-RCC3, we are proposing to carry out an in-situ neutron Compton scattering (NCS) mass-resolved spectroscopy (MANSE) at VESUVIO. We propose to investigate H2 adsorption and D2 adsorption independently and to investigate the adsorption of an H2/D2 gas mixture,
