Colonisation of hospital surfaces from low-/middle-income countries by extended spectrum β-lactamase- and carbapenemase-producing bacteria

Hospital environmental swabbing, bacterial culture and species identification, molecular microbiology to screen for presence of antibiotic resistance genes in bacterial communities, and whole genome sequencing (WGS) analysis to scrutinise the findings of bacteria in the hospital setting. Determination of presence of consistently dominant clones and their relatedness to strains causing neonatal sepsis. Plasmid analysis for evidence of transmission between bacterial isolates/species.
Data containing the complete dataset, recovered species carrying carbapenemase genes, and sequence types for the most commonly WGS identified species.
