Liver Oil-red-O staining from male and female African turquoise killifish individuals (6 week old animals), from GRZ and ZMZ1001 strains

Livers from euthanized male and female 6-week-old GRZ and ZMZ1001 turquoise killifish that had been fasted for 18 hours prior to euthanasia were harvested and fresh frozen on dry ice. Frozen livers were mounted in Tissue-Tek O.C.T Compound (Sakura, 4583) and sliced into 13 µm slices using PTFE-coated microtome blades (Duraedge, 7223) at -10C on a Cryostat CM1860 (Leica, 14-0491-46884). Liver sections were mounted on VWR Superfrost Plus slides (VWR, 48311-703) and stained with 0.5% Oil Red O (Sigma 00625-100G) in 60% Triethyl Phosphate (Sigma 538728-1L). The slides were preserved with Glycerol Gelatin (Sigma GG1-15ML). Liver slices were imaged on a Keyence BZ-X710 at 40x magnification. Per animal, 2 images from 2 independent liver slices were processed (4 images per animal). Samples were run in two batches, indicated in folders.
