Thermoanalytical Characterization of Eugenia javanica Wood Powder by TGA and Py-GC/MS

The objective of this study was to analyze Eugenia javanica Lam (wax apple) wood powder by using TGA and Py-GC/MS. Based on the results of this work it was found that pyrolsis temperature zones of hemicellulose, cellulose and lignin were within the ranges of 237-252 ℃, 318-320 ℃, and 446-452 ℃, respectively. Products obtained in the form of various the compounds, such as aldehyde, acid, ketone, aromatic elements, and phenol were analyzed using the pyrolsis. Pyrolsis temperature and chemical content of wax apple wood from each section for control index of manufacturing charcoal. It appears that the technique which was used for the analysis in this study was simple, fast, sensitive, easily reproducible and does not require any pretreatment. Therefore, such process could have a great potential and could be used effectively to develop derivatives biomass materials for various applications.
