Dendroctonus valens Genome sequencing and assembly

The red turpentine beetle, Dendroctonus valens (LeConte), is a notorious forest pest, which causes mass tree mortality after being introduced into China. However, the lack of a reference genome seriously restrict an in-depth study of pest biology and the mechanism of its outbreak in invaded areas. Our high-quality reference genome represents an important resource for genomics study in invasive forest pest species, which will facilitate the functional study and the dissection of the mechanism underlying invasion success of D. valens.
