Experimental Study on Sludge Drying Characteristics and Optimized Design of Dryer Based on CFD-DEM Simulation

This thesis examines the drying of sewage sludge, a key step for reducing its volume and enabling safe reuse or disposal. It investigates how sludge dries and how drying systems can be improved to operate more efficiently. Laboratory experiments reveal the drying behavior of sludge, and computer simulations model the process. These simulations identify improved approaches for material preparation, equipment operation, and dryer design. A pilot-scale test of a newly designed dryer confirms its high drying performance and energy efficiency, providing a practical foundation for developing more efficient and sustainable sludge treatment technologies.
