Transcriptome of sugarcane defense induced by Acidovorax avenae subsp. avenae infection

Red stripe disease is caused by Acidovorax avenae subsp. avenae (Aaa) in sugarcane worldwide and leads to serious yield losses in this crop. However, the underlying molecular mechanism about host sugarcane in response to this pathogen infection is largely unknown. Therefore, we performed large-scale transcriptome sequencing of two sugarcane cultivars contrasting of red stripe disease under the conditions of with Aaa or mock inoculation using Illumina sequencing and then identified the key genes and pathways involved in sugarcane defense responses to Aaa infection.
