Kiama Fire Station F Division book contains fire reports from 7 August 1933 to 6 February 1961. Each fire report states details of fires that the Kiama Fire Station had accounted for during this time. Handwritten reports include information such as: Day and date, time of call, when the fire was discovered, who it was called by, which locality, the occupants (their name and business name), any insurance details on contents, the owners of the premises (their name and business name), any insurance detail on the premises, construction, supposed cause of each fire, who it was extinguished by, what damage occurred, the condition of the water supply at the fire, number of lengths of hose used, number of hydrants, pumping appliances, distance of fire from station, time of return to station and time of dismissal, attendance list of staff, and itemised list of appliances used. Later, the report process changed to include details such as address of fire, insurance amounts and policy numbers, where the fire started and where it spread to, damage rating (slight, severe, total destruction, or serious damage), gallons of water used (both fresh and salt), weather conditions, particulars of fire duty performed, platoon, station, appliances, and casualties. The Kiama Fire Station Record Book is a bound volume that comprises of approximately 500 individual reports on single sheets of double-sided paper forms.
