Images from a Historic Building Recording Survey and Watching Brief at Godolphin Estate, Cornwall, 2022-2023

This collection comprises images from a historic building record survey and watching brief regarding the L-shaped barn at Godolphin Estate, Cornwall. This work was undertaken by Cornwall Archaeological Unit between 2022 and 2023. A total of four construction phases for the building have been identified. The external walls of the mid 19th century building survive intact as do some of the original doors and windows. However, much of the internal plan-form was removed during the extensive alterations that were undertaken in the mid-late 20th century. The archaeological watching brief undertaken revealed that the original walls of the building had no footings and were built on top of the natural subsoil.
