This series comprises plans from the construction of the Sydney Opera House, at Bennelong Point, Sydney. They include plans of Stages I, II and III. (Stage I was the basic structure of the podium; Stage II was the casting and creation of the shell segment, tile lids and completion of the sails; Stage III, which commenced in 1966, saw the finish of construction and the completion of interior details and building finishes). They include plans by Mr Jørn Utzon, Architect.The majority of the plans are from Stage III. A published guide, Sydney Opera House - Anatomy of Stage 3, Construction and Completion - A General Index (copy in State Records at NRS 12760) and a Booklet showing Sydney Opera House Construction Areas [6/5672], which contains diagrams of the Opera House showing the area coding system used to identify different areas and levels, can be consulted to assist with access to these plans.These plans were held in the Sydney Opera House site office, and the office of the Deputy Director of the Department of Public Works.The plans are indexed in the card index available in the Western Sydney reading room.(SR Plan Nos.64149-69210, X2540-816). 7,824 plans.
