Metagenomic analysis of smoking and non-smoking COPD subjects

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic, progressive, degenerative, inflammatory lung disease. Culture independent technologies have allowed a better understanding of association between smoker COPD and lung microbiome, but there is a limited knowledge about lung microbiome in non-smoker COPD subjects. The aim of this study was to identify the lung microbiome in non-smoker COPD subjects and compare it with smoker-COPD and healthy subjects.This study contributes in knowledge developmentabout the lung microbiome in COPD subjects.
