All the images featured in the mentioned work are inside the folder “Images”. All the images display the name of the species and the museum number. Images are recorded in lossless TIFF format and include a 10 mm scale bar for the whole specimens and a 5 cm scale bar for the polished blocks.

Folder “XRD files” contains individual folders for each specimen studied with the raw X-ray diffractograms, recorded in ASCII format using the Highscore program (Malvern Panalytical). The PDF generated with the spectra, the peak list and the reference material for each specimen is included in each folder.

Folder ‘Raman files’ contains individual folders for raw and processed Raman spectra for specimen Harriota raleighana. Raw data is recorded in TXT format, processed data in CSV format. Processed data was treated by the following: 1) cosmic ray removal, 2) background subtraction, 3) normalisation, 4) automatic peak detection. For maps & line scans that consist of more than 1 measurement, positional (x,y) data is recorded in raw data files.
