Side-Selective Line Simplification Algorithm

This work introduces a side-selective line-simplification method that enforces the safety constraint for nautical charting while providing scale-driven and human-interpretable parameters consistent with the cartographic practice. The algorithm constrains line displacement, segment length, and bend geometry, with parameters expressed in millimeters at the target scale, to produce visually coherent and application-compliant contours. Datasets include the results in six different testbeds.
