Images from an Archaeological Evaluation at Eye Witness and Ceylon Works, Milton Street, Sheffield 2019

This collection comprises images from an archaeological evaluation by Archaeological Research Services Ltd at Eye Witness and Ceylon Works, Milton Street, Sheffield, between 30th April and 3rd May 2019.
Features uncovered in Trench 1 included floors, staircases and walls related to the cellars within the back-to-back houses. Additionally, remains of a later drain between the houses was uncovered. In Trench 2, walls were located, which relate to the toilet block identified in historic maps.
The evaluation trenches demonstrated unequivocally that there was good preservation of archaeological remains below the relatively thin layer of modern overburden and that these remains could be clearly correlated with the buildings shown on historic maps of the site.
