Advancing Pharmacogenomics Competency Among Healthcare Professionals: A Needs-Based Pilot Educational Intervention

Pharmacogenomics (PGx) is a cornerstone of precision medicine, enabling medications to be tailored to an individual’s genetic makeup for optimal safety and efficacy. Despite rapid advancements, a persistent lack of PGx knowledge among healthcare professionals remains a major barrier to implementation. This research addresses this gap by developing and testing a structured, evidence-based educational program. An evidence review and expert consultation identified key knowledge gaps, which informed the program’s design. The pilot study assessed its feasibility, relevance, and potential impact, providing a roadmap to improve PGx knowledge and practice among healthcare professionals for better health outcomes.
