The aim of the project was to describe the quality of life of people who have had transplants, in order to give health workers a background for informing prospective kidney patients about life after the transplantation and better follow-up of those who have already received a kidney transplant. The information that was gathered dealt with background information about kidney illness, hobbies/leisure activities, exercise, alcohol consumption, smoking habits, habitual situation, education, job situation, sexual life, other illnesses and life quality. The sample consisted of all kidney transplant receivers with functioning kidney, who received the transplant in the period 1986-88 and who were 18 years or older when they were transplanted. Gross sample 249, net sample 201.
