Gut microbe is the general name of the microbe such as fungi, bacteria, archaea and viruses in the gut of animals.These microbes live in the gut of the host, play a key role in the physiological activities of the body and form a complex gut microbial system.The gut of livestock is also extremely rich in microbes, which can help the host complete metabolic functions that cannot be accomplished by itself. Here, gut contents of cattle, sheep, horses, pigs, rabbits, chickens, camels and donkeys were collected and metagenomic sequencing was performed to reveal the role of microbes in various physiological processes such as methane emission, antibiotic resistance, feed conversion rate and immune regulation in livestock.
