Processing workflow and derived soil moisture data for "Soil Moisture Regulation of Land–Atmosphere Energy Partitioning"

This record contains the processing workflow and derived output tables used in the manuscript “Soil Moisture Regulation of Land–Atmosphere Energy Partitioning”. The workflow processes sampled ESA Climate Change Initiative Soil Moisture v09.2 COMBINED NetCDF files for the period 1990–2024. Four fixed dates per year were used: 1 January, 1 April, 1 July, and 1 October. The script applies NetCDF file validation, quality-flag filtering, valid-pixel auditing, cosine-latitude area weighting, annual aggregation, anomaly calculation relative to the 1991–2020 baseline, and decadal summary statistics. Raw ESA CCI Soil Moisture data are not redistributed in this record and should be obtained from the official ESA/CEDA data archive. This record includes the processing script, download script, sampled file list, derived tables, and generated manuscript figures.
