Stress response to extreme weather events in Lapland Longspur

Strategies to cope with increasing global extreme-weather events require a thorough understanding of how organisms respond to different environmental perturbations. Here, we focus on the genomic basis of stress response of a wild free-living arctic breeding bird the Lapland longspur (Calcarius lapponicus). We performed RNA sequencing on tissue samples (i.e., liver, brain (hypothalamus), heart, and testicular tissue) collected upon their arrival on the breeding grounds and during incubation on the Arctic tundra of Alaska, USA.
