Viral Metagenome of Antarctic Ornothogenic Soil from Svenner Islands & Antarctic Freshwater lake at Fisher Island. viral metagenome

The viral metagenome of Antarctic environments were profiled to unravel the viral ecoogy existing in Antarctica. Viral nucleic acids were extracted from the ornithogenic soil collected from Penguin Rookery at Svenner Islands, Antarctica in Feb 2018 & from Antarctic freshwater lake water sample collected at Fisher Island, Antarctica. Viral precipitation of 600ml water sample was done using 4% PEG & 15mM MgSO4, followed by incubation at 4 deg.Celsius for 16 hours. Both DNA and RNA viral metagenomes were sequenced from the total nucleic acid extracted from the virome pellet obtained by ultracentrifugation of 0.45µm filtrates of both the samples. NGS was carried out on HiSeq 4000 to generate 2x150bp PE data and analysed further to identify viral genomes.
