Tropical cyclone Freddy, Mozambique, 2023

In Mozambique, the 2022–⁠2023 rainy season brought with it above average rainfall, flash flooding and events that have led to the destruction of infrastructure and loss of lives. On 24 February 2023, tropical storm Freddy made landfall as a moderate tropical storm over Mozambique. Then Freddy returned and made landfall for the second time on 12 March 2023. The Data in Emergencies (DIEM) team at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) examined the satellite images for this period to understand the impact.
