In vitro developmental stages of Sporisorium scitamineum

Sugarcane smut caused by the basidiomycetous fungus, Sporisorium scitamineum (Syd.) is one of the most important diseases of the crop worldwide. The project is envisaged to decipher the transcriptome of S. scitamineum isolates during distinct developmental stages under in vitro conditions by employing Next-generation sequencing technology. The samples include haploid sporidia (MAT-1 and/or MAT-2) and dikaryotic mycelium of high virulent isolate Ss97009 and low virulent isolate SsV89101. The respective samples were sequenced through Illumina HiSeq 4000 platform to obtain 2x150 bp PE (5-6 GB quality reads/sample).
