Whole genome sequence of Escherichia coli O188 reference strain

The O-serogrouping of pathogenic Escherichia coli is a standard method for subtyping strains for epidemiological studies and controls. O-serogroup diversification shows a strong association with the genetic diversity in some of O-antigen biosynthesis genes clusters (O-AGC). To develop a specific detection method for E. coli serogroup O188, whole genome sequence of the reference strain was analyzed.
