Implication of VSMC heterogeneity among arterial beds in vascular calcification. Homo sapiens

Transcriptome analysis of human primary smooth muscle cells from different arterial beds (abdominal and thoracic aorta, carotid and femoral and infrapopliteal arteries). Overall design: Smooth muscle cells were isolated from non atheromatous peripheral arteries from deceased organ donors. Allografts were obtained from the following arterial locations; carotid artery, thoracic aorta, abdominal aorta, common femoral aorta, infrapopliteal artery. RNA was extracted from 2 samples for each arterial bed and hybridized to microarrays.
