Openness fosters interconnection, and connection generates value. Open knowledge graphs are powerful technical tools to unlock the potential of data elements. The value of data is generated through information interaction in economic activities: the more open data circulation is, the richer the application scenarios it will generate; the more sufficient data connections are, the more its value will be continuously amplified and enhanced. Adhering to the philosophy of 'uncovering socio-economic value via open business knowledge', Alibaba Group has launched AliOpenKG, its first large-scale open digital business knowledge graph. The initial version contains over 1.8 billion triples, up to 670,000 core concepts, and 2,681 types of relationships, and will be continuously maintained and expanded in subsequent phases. Leveraging the business element knowledge within the graph contributes to in-depth understanding of retail data, enables intelligent and data-driven product operations and merchant growth, optimizes market supply-demand matching, and generates more intelligent applications tailored to scenario-specific needs. Relying on the industry knowledge and standard specifications in the open graph, it facilitates the integration and circulation of various data elements in the business ecosystem, promotes the in-depth development of digital business and economic ecosystems, and further assists small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in achieving intelligent and data-driven transformation. Uncovering socio-economic value via open business knowledge also promotes interdisciplinary research in fields such as digital commerce and digital economy, and supports the national strategic requirements for the healthy development of the digital economy. We will also establish vertical-domain knowledge graph evaluation benchmarks based on this dataset, further advancing the development of knowledge graph technologies and their deployment in more vertical fields.
