Resequencing of mouse Y chromosome using Nanopore MinION. Mus musculus

Mice are often used as a model organism, and a draft sequence of the mouse genome was published in 2002. However, there remain many genes with unknown functions and regions where the nucleotide sequence is not elucidated on the Y chromosome. In this study, we aim to elucidate the undetermined sequences of the mouse Y chromosome using Fluorescence-Activated Cell Sorting (FACS)-based chromosome enrichment in combination with the long sequencer Oxford Nanopore MinION. In addition, the purpose of this project is to use long-reading sequencers to accurately assemble highly repeated regions and multi-copy genes, providing new insights into the role of the Y chromosome in health and disease.
