Discriminatory power was determined following Hunter and Gaston’s modified Simpson’s diversity index (Hunter and Gaston, 1987). Typeability is calculated by the number of successful sequencing reactions divided by the total number of samples available. The number of variants for the ompA sequencing refers to ompA serovars, as determined by homology of each sequence within the BLAST-n NCBI database.
