A through lane carries traffic past a facility (intersecting road or non-residential driveway), regardless of length, as opposed to turning lanes or acceleration-deceleration lanes, which separate entering, exiting, or turning traffic from through traffic. Ramps located within grade-separated interchanges (in Texas, referred to as "Grade Separated Connectors") are also considered through lanes.
