TodaiWW3-ArCS hindcast simulation during the MR20 drifting buoy observations: gridded model output.

This is a hindcast simulation during MR20 drifting buoy observation using TodaiWW3-ArCS. This dataset is related to the "MR20-05C drifting wave buoy observation in the freezing marginal ice zone" dataset (ADS metadata ID A20241112-006 : MR20-05C drifting wave buoy observation in the freezing marginal ice zone). Grid model output for wave heights, periods, and directions are provided. The model setup is the same as the experimental TodaiWW3-ArCS wave forecast model to support R/V Mirai Arctic Ocean expedition (ADS metadata ID: A20220927-002 : Experimental wave forecast to support R/V Mirai Arctic Ocean expedition in 2020). The model was forced with the ERA5 10m wind field while the lateral boundary was imposed using 0--23 hr lead time RIOPS ice concentration and thickness forecast produced by the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). The hindcast model was used to investigate the wave event measured by the Spotter drifting wave buoys on 16 and 17 Oct in the marginal ice zone. The event was studied because southwesterly waves were measured when the local and dominant winds in the adjacent ice-free water were blowing from southeast.
本数据集为MR20漂流浮标观测期间采用东大WW3-ArCS(TodaiWW3-ArCS)开展的后报模拟。本数据集关联《冰冻边缘冰区MR20-05C漂流波浪浮标观测数据集》(ADS元数据标识号:A20241112-006:冰冻边缘冰区MR20-05C漂流波浪浮标观测),提供波浪高度、周期与方向的网格模式输出结果。该模式的设置与支撑“未来号”(R/V Mirai)2020年北极科考实验的TodaiWW3-ArCS波浪预报模式完全一致(ADS元数据标识号:A20220927-002:2020年支持“未来号”北极科考实验的波浪预报研究)。本模式以ERA5 10米风场作为强迫场,侧边界条件采用加拿大环境与气候变化部(ECCC)生成的0至23小时预报时效的RIOPS海冰密集度及厚度预报数据。本次后报模拟用于分析2020年10月16日至17日边缘冰区中Spotter型漂流波浪浮标观测到的波浪事件。之所以针对该事件展开研究,是因为在邻近无冰海域的局地主导风向为东南风的背景下,观测到了西南向波浪。
