Bacillus velezensis MEP218 was isolated from saline soils and it is able to interact and to promote plant growth. Additionally, this bacterium produces cyclic lipopeptides with strong antifungal activity. Moreover, it was shown that fengycins produced by MEP218 have antibacterial activity against Xanthomonas axonopodis pv vesicatoria.
