Data from an Archaeological Evaluation on the Land North of A14 Junction 56, Wherstead, Suffolk, November 2019

This collection comprises images, reports, and site records from an archaeological trial trench evaluation on the land north of A14 Junction 56, Wherstead, Suffolk. This work was undertaken by Pre-Construct Archaeology in November 2019. The evaluation identified a small pit containing five sherds of probable Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age pottery. The remains of a field system were also encountered but there was no conclusive evidence by which to date the field system. Fourteen struck flints spread across the evaluation area ranged in date from the Mesolithic to the Late Neolithic-Early Bronze Age, indicating the potential for low-level earlier prehistoric activity.
