Global evidence for programmed switching of gene expression from astrocytes to neurons in response to PTB depletion

RNA-seq data were generated on replicate samples of isolated astrocytes from mouse cortex or midbrain before and after conversion to neurons by depleting PTB for 2 or 4 weeks. Overall design: To characterize global switch in gene expression from astrocytes to neurons, we performed RNA-seq on isolated astrocytes from mouse cortex or midbrain and their converted neurons. As expected, typical astrocyte-specific genes were suppressed while neuronal-specific genes were induced upon shPTB induced neuronal conversion.
