Legacy effects of extinct flagship species on protected areas

This repository contains the datasets, R code, and Google Earth Engine code used in the study 'Legacy effects of extinct flagship species on protected areas'. Our study uses the synthetic control method and matching analysis to compare forest loss trajectories of protected areas designed to protect flagship species with counterfactuals modelled using similar protected areas.
