Canadian Gallup Poll, August 1983, #476_1

This Gallup poll seeks the opinions of Canadians, on both political and social issues. The questions ask opinions about who would make the best Prime Minister, Quebec separatism and other political issues within the country. There are also questions on other topics of interest and importance to the country and government, such the six-five restraint program, the quality of education in high schools and the effects of computers. The respondents were also asked questions so that they could be grouped according to geographical variables. Topics of interest include: allowing low level offenders to work; approving a shorter work week; approving less pay for a shorter work week; attending the movies; the continuation of the six-five restraint program; the effects of computers on everyday life; interest in watching professional sports; the interest level of movies made today; making English courses compulsory in French speaking schools; making French courses compulsory in English speaking schools; the strength of separatism in Quebec; the success of the six-five restraint program; teaching basic skills in high school; the treatment of Native Indians by the government; and who would make the best Prime Minister. Basic demographic variables are also included.
