Data of Ixodes ricinus, Ixodes persulcatus and Dermacentor reticulatus distribution and tick-borne pathogen detection in ticks, Latvia, 2017-2019

In total, 4593 Ixodes ricinus, Ixodes persulcatus and Dermacentor reticulatus samples were collected during 227 tick collection events at 189 sites located throughout the territory of Latvia, a Baltic state in northern Europe. Ticks were collected from ground vegetation by flagging during the tick activity period (March, April, May, June and September) during 2017–2019. Tick samples were individually tested by PCR-based methods, 15 tick-borne pathogens were detected: TBEV; Babesia canis; Ba. microti; Ba. venatorum; Ba. capreoli; Anaplasma phagocytophilum; Rickettsia helvetica; R. monacensis; R. raoultii; Borrelia miyamotoi; Bo. afzelii; Bo. burgdorferi (s.s.); Bo. garinii; Bo. lusitaniae; and Bo. valaisiana. Here, we present data on the geolocation, collection date, tick species and stage, as well as presence/absence of each of the pathogen tested in individual ticks.
