Visual RNAseq data for bioluminescent deep-sea shrimp (Superfamily Oplophoroidea)

RNAseq data from the eyes of various bioluminescent deep-sea shrimp species belonging to the superfamily Oplophoroidea, with both single and dual-modes of bioluminescence and a diverse range of migratory behaviors and associated light environments. Assembled eye transcriptomes were used identify orthologs to build a species tree for the superfamily and to characterize visual opsin diversity across this group. Evidence for positive selection among species who have evolved an additional mode of bioluminescence (photophores), was also examined for the visual opsins and orthologs recovered from the transcriptomes.
