This dataset contains measured organic matter content and dry bulk density of sediment cores collected from the Spartina alterniflora ecosystem at Xiaogandao Island, Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province, China (September 2022). All coordinates are recorded in WGS84 coordinate system. Sediment cores (30 cm depth) were sectioned at 2 cm intervals, yielding 480 samples from 32 cores. Organic matter content was determined by loss on ignition (LOI) using a muffle furnace.
