To explore the changes of proportion and diversity of gut microbiota before and after treatment with acarbose in pre-diabetes, we designed a randomized, double-blind and controlled crossover trial in which 52 pre-diabetes aged 30-60 years with BMI 18-35 kg/m2 by OGTT in China were randomly allocated to treatment with acarbose or placebo for 3 months. Gut microbiota characterizations were determined with 16S rDNA-based high-throughput sequencing.
