Sex ratio, resistance to parasitoid attack, and starvation responses of drosophilid flies to Spiroplasma infection, from a laboratory study

These data are derived from a series of experiments comparing traits of Spiroplasma infected vs uninfected flies examined in parallel. Experiments were completed in the period 2021-2025 in the laboratory in Liverpool, UK, with the exception of D.hydei starvation tolerance, which was completed in 2014 in the laboratory in Liverpool UK. The data look at how the responses of Spiroplasma infected vs uninfected flies differ in sex ratio produced, starvation tolerance and capacity to survive a wasp attack. A parallel data set for starvation tolerance is provided for Spiroplasma strains sHy1 in its fly host Drosophila hydei. These experiments were carried out to study the impact of Spiroplasma strain sZko on its fly host, Zaprionus kolodkinae.
