RNA sequencing of stems of transgenic potato (Solanum tuberosum) plants overexpressing the StCLE12 and StCLE19 genes

Although phloem plays a crucial role in the efficient functioning of potato tubers as storage organs, the genetic mechanisms of phloem formation in potato have not been previously explored. We analyzed the effect of overexpression of two phloem-expressed potato genes: StCLE12 which encodes TDIF-like peptide, and StCLE19, whose product is close to CLE25 of Arabidopsis. We demonstrated the impact of these CLE genes on the vascular system formation and the overall development of potato plants.
