Transcriptome sequencing of the nickel hyperaccumulator Psychotria gabriellae (aka P. douarrei) endemic from New Caledonia. P_gab EST

This study aims to obtain the first sequences of transcribed genes from the nickel hyperaccumulator Psychotria gabriellae, commonly known as P. douarrei, endemic from New Caledonia. Aerial parts (leaves and floral buds) were collected from a plant population located on Mont Mou (Païta, New Caledonia, WGS84 X :166.33320, Y :-22.07457). RNA were extracted to prepare a normalized cDNA library by random priming. The cDNA library was sequenced on a Roche GS-FLX with Titanium chemistry. 596737 reads were obtained with a average length of 322 bp. Reads were assembled de novo using CLC Genomics Workbench 4.7. We generated 34156 contigs above 150 bp with N50=813bp.
