SDG 6.4.2 Level of Water Stress: Freshwater Withdrawal as a Proportion of Available Freshwater Resources by Economic Activity

This dataset shows the level of water stress in the State of Qatar from 2000 to 2023, broken down by economic activity. Water stress expresses the volume of freshwater withdrawn by each activity as a percentage of the renewable freshwater resources that remain available after environmental flow requirements are met. A higher percentage means heavier pressure on the country's freshwater resources, and a percentage above 100 means that withdrawals exceed the renewable freshwater available once environmental needs are set aside. The dataset allows the reader to see which activities place the greatest pressure on freshwater and how that pressure has developed over time. The dataset presents the level of water stress for each economic activity separately; the combined figure for all activities is not included.
