Soil fungi conditioned by Tasmanian eucalypt species

The aim of this project was to determine whether plant lineages differ in the way they condition soil fungal communities. We characterized fungal communities in the 15 species-level soils collected from Tasmania using next-generation sequencing. We collected soils conditioned by individuals of each of the 15 eucalypt species growing in each of two common gardens: the Tasmanian Arboretum, located in northern Tasmania (41.2265S, 146.3022E), and a forestry trial at Strathblane, located in southeastern Tasmania (43.3350S, 146.9451E).
