Sanger sequencing chromatograms of mitochondrial control regions from Macrovipera lebetinus lebetinus (samples S56087 & S56088)

Polymorphic positions within the mitochondrial control regions of Macrovipera lebetinus lebetinus were resolved by PCR and Sanger sequencing using primers designed with Primer3. The primers used were Viper_3632_for (5′-AGTAGACATGGAACTAAAGCCCA-3′), Viper_16155_for (5′-CACCATTCACAGAAGTAGGACA-3′), and Viper_3632_16155_rev (5′-CGACCAGAAAATGAGGGAAAGA-3′). Sequencing was performed on two archived tissue samples from Cypriot specimens (S 56087 and S 56088) preserved in 80% denatured ethanol. The specimens were collected in 2014 and are housed at the Staatliches Naturhistorisches Museum, Braunschweig, Germany. Ethical approval was not required, as no live animals were involved in the study.
