资源简介:
The first volume (4/1618) consists of copies of letters (apparently made at a later date as the paper is watermarked 1822) from various colonial officials (Attorney General Bannister, the Colonial Treasurer W. Balcombe, Dr Douglass, Captain Fennell, Major Goulburn, Surveyor General Oxley, etc.) and from important individuals (Rev. Samuel Marsden, John Macarthur, Archdeacon Scott etc.). The letters are usually concerned with matters of some importance eg. the court case re the female convicts at Emu Plains, the dispute between Dr Douglass and Rev. S. Marsden over the convict James Ring, and the problem of bushrangers. Also in this volume are despatches from the Secretary of State. The second volume (4/1672) contains copies of letters and enclosures concerned with such matters as arrangements for convict ships, applications for pardons and tickets of leave, land grants, salaries, arrangements for the security of public funds, supplies, rewards for the capture of bushrangers, and Dr Bowman's accusation of alleged negligence on the part of Dr West of Windsor Hospital. These copies were probably made for the Governor's convenience as the originals would have been in the office of the Colonial Secretary. (4/1618, 4/1672). 2 vols. Note:This description is extracted from Concise Guide to the State Archives of New South Wales, 3rd Edition 2000.
