Mucosal microbiota alterations in primary sclerosis cholangitis

PSC-associated alteration of gut microbiota has already been described, but the effect of geographic origin has not been addressed yet. We aimed to explore the disease-specific mucosal microbial pattern independent of regional conditions with respect to liver transplantation, gut inflammation, and PSC recurrence. Sequencing of the 16S ribosomal RNA gene (V3V4) from ileocolonic biopsies was performed on PSC and liver-transplanted patients and healthy controls.
